A young woman from Munich relocates to a remote coastal region of northern Germany following a relationship breakdown, finding herself at odds with the insular local community and their distinctive dialect and customs. Romance gradually blossoms with a local man, but cultural and linguistic differences threaten to keep them apart. The film plays on the comic tension between urban southern German sensibilities and the reserved, understated ways of East Frisia.
