Four of Shakespeare's most celebrated plays are reimagined in contemporary British settings, with each story transplanted into a modern context whilst retaining the essential dramatic thrust of the original. The four adaptations — covering *Much Ado About Nothing*, *Macbeth*, *A Midsummer Night's Dream*, and *The Taming of the Shrew* — feature updated characters and settings ranging from a television newsroom to a Scottish restaurant kitchen. Each film was broadcast as a standalone television production as part of a BBC anthology series.
