A young man named Sam Winchester abandons his university studies when his estranged brother Dean arrives with news that their father has gone missing. The brothers, who were raised by their father to hunt demons and other supernatural creatures following the mysterious death of their mother, hit the road together to track him down whilst confronting various monsters and malevolent spirits along the way. The series blends horror, dark humour, and family drama as Sam and Dean navigate a world hidden beneath the surface of everyday American life.
