A Czech television film in which a cunning devil makes a wager that he can corrupt an honest man's soul, setting in motion a series of temptations and moral trials. The story draws on folk tradition, blending dark humour with a battle of wits between good and evil. Ultimately the man must rely on his own integrity and cleverness to outmanoeuvre the devil's schemes.
