A Hungarian fisherman living along the Tisza river finds his quiet existence disrupted when his younger sister arrives unexpectedly, having fled her troubled life in the city. The two siblings grow closer as they share the isolated, watery landscape, but their bond provokes hostility from the insular local community, whose suspicions and resentments escalate into violence.
