Three eccentric conspiracy-theorist journalists — Byers, Langly, and Frohike — spin off from *The X-Files* to investigate shadowy government cover-ups and corporate wrongdoing on their own. In the pilot episode, the trio uncover a plot by a rogue faction within the US government to crash a hijacked commercial airliner into the World Trade Centre in order to justify increased arms sales. Aided by a slippery con man named Yves Adele Harlow, the Gunmen race to avert the disaster and expose those responsible.
