As she recuperates, Joe recounts the story of her life as a self-described nymphomaniac, tracing her sexual awakening from childhood through young adulthood in a series of frank and often darkly comic episodes. Seligman listens attentively, drawing curious intellectual parallels between her confessions and his own bookish interests in subjects ranging from fly-fishing to music theory.
