Jan Palach
Geregisseerd door Robert Sedláček (2018)
A young Czech student becomes a symbol of resistance against the Soviet occupation of Czechoslovakia following the 1968 Warsaw Pact invasion. Jan Palach, frustrated by the passive acceptance of communist rule and the crushing of the Prague Spring reforms, makes the drastic decision to set himself on fire in Wenceslas Square in January 1969 as an act of political protest. The film traces the events leading up to his self-immolation, exploring his personal motivations, his relationships, and the profound impact his sacrifice had on Czech society.
