A biographical film following the life of Howard Marks, a Welsh man who begins dealing cannabis on a small scale before building an elaborate international smuggling network with connections to the IRA and various intelligence services. Marks adopts dozens of false identities to evade authorities whilst living a flamboyant, jet-setting lifestyle alongside his wife and family. His luck eventually runs out when American drug enforcement agencies close in, leading to his arrest and trial.
