A young Japanese woman becomes entangled in an ancient conflict between two rival vampire clans who have been warring for centuries. She is brought to a vast, labyrinthine hotel in Tokyo where a large group of humans are being held captive as a living blood supply, and finds herself at the centre of a violent power struggle over her identity and destiny. The story unfolds with graphic, stylised violence and baroque excess as the factions clash and the truth about the woman's origins is gradually revealed.
