A young man with Down's syndrome escapes from the care facility where he has been living and sets out to fulfil his dream of attending a wrestling school run by his idol. He falls in with a small-time fisherman who is fleeing troubles of his own, and the two form an unlikely friendship as they journey together through the waterways of the American South. A carer who has been tasked with finding the young man eventually joins them, and the trio's shared adventure gradually transforms each of their lives.
