ACRM Import & Export

The ACRM moves contacts in and out using the vCard format, a .vcf file: the standard that Google, Apple, Microsoft and every phone understand. One file can hold thousands of contacts, and names, emails, phone numbers, birthdays, addresses, photos, links and labels all travel with it.

Getting a .vcf file from your current service #

• Google Contacts (Android or web): go to contacts.google.com, select Export, choose vCard.
• Android Contacts app: open the Contacts app settings and choose Export to .vcf file.
• iPhone / iCloud: sign in at icloud.com, open Contacts, select all, then Export vCard from the settings wheel.
• Mac: open the Contacts app, select your contacts, then File, Export, Export vCard.
• Outlook / Windows: Outlook's own export produces a CSV file, which the ACRM does not read. Either sync your contacts to your phone and export a .vcf there, or in the Outlook desktop app open a contact and save it as a vCard.

Importing #

Open Import from the front page menu, upload the file, and read the summary: how many contacts are new, and how many match people you already have. A card whose email address or phone number matches an existing contact is merged into them automatically; merging fills gaps and adds to lists but never overwrites what you typed. Cards that merely share a name with an existing contact are shown for your decision: merge, import as new, or ignore, with one button to merge all of them at once (see duplicates and merging). Large files process in stages with a progress bar; keep the page open until it finishes. Notes in the file end up in your encrypted notes, scrambled on your device as the final step.

Exporting #

Export one person with the .vcf button on their page, a ticked selection from search results, or everything with Export all on the front page. Each export asks one question: standard, or including hidden details. Standard carries the open details only. Including hidden details adds your tags and appearance traits, and for Pro members the encrypted notes as well, unscrambled on your device while the file is prepared so they never cross the internet readable. File names carry the date and time. The file imports cleanly into Google, Apple and every contacts app listed above.
