Based on Evelyn Waugh's trilogy of novels, the story follows Guy Crouchback as he seeks meaningful purpose in a conflict that repeatedly frustrates and humiliates him. His Catholic faith and old-fashioned chivalric values make him an outsider in a modern war driven by bureaucracy and self-interest.
