A Moroccan-Dutch teenager struggles to balance his family's traditional Islamic expectations with his desire to fit into modern Dutch society, particularly as he develops feelings for a local girl. His attempts to pursue this romance and assert his own identity bring him into repeated conflict with his conservative parents and the tight-knit community around them. The comedy follows his increasingly elaborate schemes to live a double life without getting caught.
