Saint Bridget of Sweden

A dramatised account of the life of Birgitta of Sweden, the fourteenth-century mystic and religious reformer who experienced divine visions from an early age. After the death of her husband, she devoted herself entirely to her faith, founding a religious order and travelling to Rome, where she campaigned tirelessly for the return of the papacy from Avignon. The film portrays her spiritual journey and her eventual canonisation as one of the patron saints of Europe.
