A desperate academic becomes entangled in the fashion world when he tries to save his father's failing clothing business from a dangerous creditor. His attempts to resolve the situation accidentally lead to the invention of a new trouser design featuring transparent panels on the rear, which becomes an unexpected commercial sensation. The film blends screwball comedy with romantic entanglements as the professor finds himself caught between his father's troubles and an affair with a mobster's wife.
