A young woman working as a nurse in a near-future Britain discovers she has developed an extraordinary electrical power that she struggles to control. As more women around the world manifest this same ability, the balance of power between the sexes begins to shift dramatically, leading to widespread social and political upheaval. The series explores how those who have long held power respond to this new threat to their dominance, and what the newly empowered are willing to do with their abilities.
