A young Mary and her betrothed Joseph travel to Bethlehem amid the political machinations of a scheming King Herod, who fears the birth of a prophesied new king. The film blends the traditional nativity story with a musical approach, following the couple's journey and the arrival of their miraculous child. Supporting characters including shepherds and wise men converge on the humble birthplace as Herod's threat looms over the holy family.
