Ever after, a Cinderella story

A young woman in Renaissance France endures a life of servitude under her cruel stepmother after her beloved father dies, but continues to resist her circumstances with intelligence and spirit. When she encounters the country's prince and the two fall for one another, she must conceal her true social standing to maintain the relationship. Inspired loosely by the classic Cinderella fairy tale, the story reimagines the romance as a grounded historical drama rather than a magical fantasy.
