A Spanish woman discovers after her mother's death that her entire life history has been a fabrication, and she sets out to uncover the truth about her origins. Her investigation draws her back through the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War, revealing that her mother led a remarkable double life as a spy and resistance fighter across Europe. As she pieces together the extraordinary story, she must come to terms with a past far more dangerous and complex than she ever imagined.
