Actors (m/f), 24-35, English sprks, for FAMU Short Film in Prague

Female | Playing age 24–30 | native or very fluent in English. American accent required.

Kat is the lead role and carries most of the film. She is romantic, expressive, funny and a little impulsive. She loves her boyfriend, but after waiting for their relationship to move forward she wants proof that he takes their future as seriously as she does.

After a Valentine's Day argument, Kat falls into a fantasy where Cupid offers her all the grand romance, attention, marriage and family she thinks she wants. At first she loves it — until she discovers there can definitely be too much of a good thing.

We are looking for an actress with strong comedic timing, emotional range and physical performance skills. Much of the fantasy relies on reactions and visual comedy, so the ability to communicate without dialogue is especially important.

Male | Playing age 24–30 | must speak English comfortably enough to perform the role. Native Czech strongly preferred.

Matěj is Kat's Czech boyfriend. He is relaxed, funny and well-meaning, but traditional romance is not his strong suit. His idea of a great Valentine's Day is watching the Sparta–Slavia derby with Kat, two crates of Pilsner and koleno — and he genuinely thinks she'll love it.

He is not the stereotypical uncaring boyfriend. He loves Kat, but the two of them have very different ideas about what love is supposed to look like.

We are looking for someone who can make Matěj feel natural, charming, genuinely Czech and funny without trying too hard. 

Male | Playing age approximately 25–35 | must speak English (not necessarily as native speaker) | 

Singing ability is a plus but not required.

Cupid is not the cute little baby with a bow and arrow. He is charming, theatrical, extravagant, self-important and completely committed to being the greatest romantic who has ever existed. He enters Kat's fantasy determined to give her absolutely everything she thinks she wants — chocolates, serenades, grand declarations, marriage, babies and eternal devotion.

At first he is funny, magnetic and ridiculous. As he keeps escalating the romance, his enthusiasm becomes increasingly overwhelming and absurd.

We are especially interested in actors with theatre and/or physical performance experience. The role requires big theatrical energy, strong comedic instincts and the ability to move naturally between charming, funny, absurd and intensely over-the-top.
