A superstitious Italian family patriarch becomes alarmed when he realises that thirteen people are seated at the Christmas dinner table, convinced the omen foretells a death in the family. His frantic attempts to alter the seating arrangements and avert disaster drive the comedy, as relatives bicker and schemes go awry. The holiday gathering descends into cheerful chaos as everyone is drawn into the old man's obsession.
