A superstitious Italian family patriarch becomes alarmed when he realises that thirteen people are seated at the Christmas dinner table, convinced the omen foretells a death in the family. His frantic attempts to alter the seating arrangements and avert disaster drive the comedy, as relatives bicker and schemes go awry.
