The Force

A documentary following the Oakland Police Department over several years as it struggles with deep-rooted corruption, misconduct and racial tension within its ranks. The film examines the department's attempts at reform under federal oversight whilst capturing the internal culture that repeatedly undermines progress. A major scandal involving officers and an underage trafficking victim erupts midway through filming, throwing the institution into further crisis and forcing out multiple police chiefs in rapid succession.
