La Masseria Delle Allodole

Set during the Armenian Genocide of 1915, the film follows an Armenian family torn apart when Ottoman soldiers arrive to carry out deportations and massacres. The story centres on the fate of siblings separated by the violence, with a young Armenian man working as a barber to a Turkish officer while his family is subjected to brutal persecution. Perspectives shift between the perpetrators and victims as the Taviani brothers explore complicity, survival and cultural erasure against the backdrop of a rural farmstead.
