Hannah Arendt
Dirigida por Margarethe von Trotta (2012)
The film follows philosopher and political theorist Hannah Arendt as she travels to Jerusalem in the early 1960s to report on the trial of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann for *The New Yorker*. Her subsequent articles, in which she introduces the concept of the "banality of evil" and controversially examines the role of Jewish councils during the Holocaust, provoke a fierce backlash from colleagues, friends, and the wider Jewish community. Facing accusations of betrayal and demands that she recant her views, Arendt refuses to abandon her conclusions, defending the primacy of independent thought over political pressure.
