The Last Vermeer

A art dealer stands trial after the Second World War, accused of collaborating with the Nazis by selling them Dutch masterpieces. His defence, however, hinges on a remarkable claim: that the paintings he sold were not genuine Old Masters at all, but elaborate forgeries he had created himself. A Dutch investigator becomes increasingly fascinated by the case and must determine whether the man is a traitor or a peculiar kind of patriot.
