A Surinamese man travels to the Netherlands hoping to reconnect with his estranged father, a wealthy and pompous figure living a comfortable Dutch life. Culture clashes and comic misunderstandings ensue as the newcomer struggles to adapt to his unfamiliar surroundings whilst trying to win over his reluctant father and new family. The film blends fish-out-of-water humour with an exploration of identity and belonging between two very different worlds.
