Vlny (Waves)

A young journalist joins Czechoslovakia's Radio Free Europe-style broadcasting service during the 1960s and becomes caught up in the struggle to maintain editorial independence and freedom of speech against mounting Communist Party pressure. As the political climate shifts towards the Prague Spring and its violent suppression, he and his colleagues must decide how far they are willing to go to broadcast the truth. The film examines both personal and professional sacrifice against the backdrop of one of the most turbulent periods in Czech history.
