There have been several productions titled *The Arrangement*, so without a director or year it is difficult to identify which one is intended. The best-known is Elia Kazan's 1969 film, in which a successful advertising executive, haunted by a sense of emptiness and inauthenticity, attempts suicide and is forced to confront the compromises and betrayals that have shaped his life. His recovery draws him back into conflict with his domineering father, his loyal wife, and a passionate former lover who represents the freer existence he abandoned.
