Actor Search Results

If you switch on Visible on Search in your profile, you will appear in the search results when a casting director is looking for actors.

This page explains how we decide which actors to show first and, just as important, what does not affect it.

First, You Need a Photo #

You will only appear in the actor search if you have at least one photo on your profile. With no photo you are not in the list at all, whatever else you do, because casting directors search with pictures in front of them.

You also need Visible on Search switched on, and your account has to be active.

We rebuild the list every hour, so once you add a photo you will be in it within the hour.

Search Order #

Actors are shown in four groups, in this order:

1. Pro actors who also have a Verified badge
2. Pro actors
3. Standard accounts
4. Everyone else

Being Verified only lifts you if you are Pro as well. On its own it does not move you up the list.

Inside each group the order is random, and reshuffled every hour, so the same people are not always at the top.

What Does Not Change Your Position #

We would rather tell you this than let you spend time on it. None of the following decide where you appear in the search order:

• how complete your profile is
• how many photos, showreels or voice files you have
• how many times your profile has been viewed
• how often you log in, or how many castings you apply to

All of these matter a great deal once a casting director is looking at your profile. They just do not decide who gets looked at first.

How to Move Up #

1. Add a photo and switch on Visible on Search, or you are not listed at all
2. If you are not yet a Pro actor, upgrade to Pro
3. Get Verified, which is open to Pro actors, to reach the top group

That is the whole list. Everything else you do to your profile is about winning the role once you have been seen, which matters just as much.
