The series traces her turbulent personal life, including her unhappy marriage, passionate love affairs, and the poverty and hardships she endured, alongside her determined pursuit of a literary career. Through her story, the production explores the social constraints placed upon women in nineteenth-century Bohemian society and the personal sacrifices she made in order to write works that would shape Czech national identity.
