About Me
My name is Alin Potop and I am a 24 years old Romanian Actor, born and raised in a small mountain town in southern Romania. Even if my family members had no prior concern over acting or arts field, I have known since I was young that I will a follow a theatre and film career. At the age of 18 I was admitted with the second highest score at the National University of Theatre and Cinematography „Ion Luca Caragiale” Bucharest and in 2017 I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in acting.
After graduating I was immediately admitted to the master programme at the same specialization of the same university and in 2019 I successfully finished my studies. During the university I played General Epancin in the school production of “The idiot” by Fyodor Dostoevsky. The show premiered in 2017 and was invited to FACT (Festival.Arts.Cinema.Theatre) in Budapest; Scena Incognito Festival in France and International Festival “Actors of Europe” in Macedonia. Even if I was still a student, I started collaborating with proffesional theatre companies in his second year of studies. In 2016 I made my debut at Bucharest National Theatre when I played Bojidar in “Meddea, my mother” , directed by Ivan Dobchev and Margarita Mladolevna. I returned at the National in 2019 when I played in the dance-theatre production “On the roof” , directed and choreographed by Gigi Caciuleanu. I took the leading role in Shakespeare’s Hamlet in 2018, a production directed by Antoaneta Cojocaru which was played in different historical buildings in Bucharest. Also, in 2018 I started collaborating with Bulandra Theatre in plays such as : “On golden pond” and “ Le Voyage de Monsieur Perrichon” both directed by Dinu Cernescu, “Don Juan” directed by Ana-Ioana Macarie and “Coriolanus” directed by Alexandru Darie. My theatre collaborations also includes working with Excelsior Theatre in the production of “The lord of the flies” and with Arte dell’Anima Company in the “Bad Kids” , production. I also collaborated with the Romanian Radio Broadcasting Company in more than 20 Radio Drama productions.
Given my passion for dance field I took lots of dance workshops, and Gaga Movement Classes with different choreographers and dancers such as: Ian Robinson, Bill Barry, Ben Green , Nitzan Ressler , Tom Weinberger, Andreea Gavriliu , Val Jean Charles , Linda Kapetanea, Linda Kapetanea, Florin Fieroiu, Massimo Gerardi and Michal Zahora. Beside these, I also did a Shakespeare workshop with Michael Pennington and a few improvisation workshop with Joe Bill , Orla McGovern and Nicol Blue.
In 2018 I played the leading in a short movie called “The forest ranger” directed by Norbert Fodor. In 2019 I played Silviu in “The silver forest” , a 90 min. drama directed by Emmanuel Bourdieu and also in 2019 I played Mihaita in a short movie called “The apartament” directed by Geo Doba.
