Greek-American Despina Mirou, is an established actress, writer and Stand Up comedian. She began her dynamic career as a child actor ,and she received two writing awards as a writer when she was 13 years old.She is known for her performances across genres.She speaks fluent English ,Greek,some Turkish,Italian. Also,she can do Italian American accent,Russian American accent, East European accent, Ancient Greek, Spanish American.Despina started her career while she was a child doing an improve stand up, she was discovered by the famous comic creator and writer Rena Rigga of the TV series "Akros Oikogeneiakon" for Antenna TV. The TV sitcom became a huge success, and THe following years she participated in 15 successfull T.V series (drama and comedy both).Despina started her international career when she was a child,with Peter Bogdanovich film "The cats meow".She participated in a masterclass with Al Pacino and took acting classes with John Strasberg in New York Actors Studio. In 2015 in New York she did stand-up at the N. Y. Comedy club, where she impersonated Lucille Ball and the show aired on HBO.Later she played in HBO Tv series 'Show me a Hero", directed by Paul Haggis.She did a video "Californication" with Farah Mokrani for MTV, in "Vox Influx" a TV drama, in the drama film "Vamp Bikers Dos" the character of Queen Fellini in AMAZON,in Lifetime channel drama film "A Mother 's Sacrifice", in the TV Series "Made In Hollywood", in the drama film “Japanese Borsch” the film won the Award of 'Best film in NY filmmakers Academy' in 2019. In 2020 in the comedy film "The Light Touch" Mirou is nominee for best actress award " in Maverick film festival.In 2020 Mirou was participated on NETFLIX comedy series 'On My Block". The Series received the "Teens Choice Award". In 2020 Mirou finished another action drama film “The American Connection”, starring the living legend Faye Dunaway, and other actors like Daryl Hannah,Michael Madsen. Recently in 2020 she finished the comedy film 'Tango Shalom" .In 2020 Mirou finished the biographical film "Affairs on Capri",and she played the role of iconic Elizabeth Taylor.
Since Mirou is doing the MC, and she is opening the concerts of the legendary band "PINK FLOYD ", named "Beyond the Wall".
In theater Despina has a classic theater repertoire including "The Maids" by Jean Genet, "The Bear-The Proposal " by Anton Chekhov, "The Odd Couple" by Neil Simon, and "Uncle Vanya" by Anton Chekhov, "Oresteia" by Aeschylus at the "Kirk Theater" on Broadway, and more.Despina established a Stand-up career at various Comedy clubs in LA and NY, like The Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory, New York Comedy club,Gotham,Carolyne's etc. Her talent in impersonating and transforming herself to different personalities has made her stand out in the comedy world ,she won "Best Stand Up Comedy actress Award" in 2018 & "Audience favorite Comedy actress award" in 2019.Her faces impersonations include :Lucile Ball,Betty Davis,Joan Crawford,Sofia Vergara,Ozzy Osbourne,Judge Judy,Eminem,Penelope Cruz,Ariana Huffington, Marilyn Monroe, Liz Taylor, Jessica Rabbit, Kim Kardashian e.t.c.
