About Me

Dawit, born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, is an award-winning actor.

As a child he was introduced to acting at a young age in the form of school plays, he loved performing and wanted to be just like the actors he saw on the big screen.

As Dawit grew older he came to appreciate the ability of actors being able to portray different characters and to do so believably, it was mind-blowing to him. He loves using the craft of acting to make people laugh, cry or feel any range of emotions.

He graduated from the theaterschool De Trap in Amsterdam and also completed a course at the New York Film Academy in Amsterdam. Since graduating Dawit has starred in several short films including Trade Secret, a nominated short film that premiered at the Film University film festival in Breda.

Dawit also participated in the World Championship of Performing Arts 2019 (WCOPA) in Los Angeles, United States. WCOPA is an international talent show with over 750 contestants from over 60 competing countries. Contestants can participate in several categories including acting, singing, dancing and modeling. As an actor representing the Netherlands, Dawit participated in four acting categories and managed to take home four medals, three silver and one bronze.

In addition to winning four medals, Dawit was one of the few contestants selected to receive a talent-based scholarship award, worth 10.000 dollars to the New York Film Academy.

Back in the Netherlands Dawit has worked with established and upcoming Dutch directors the likes of Sytske van der Ster, Erik van’t Wout, Berend Schmidt and Sean Louw.

In addition to acting, Dawit is also an avid film editor and cameraman, working as both in the industry for several years. However, despite his interest in all things film and television, his main focus will always be his passion for acting.

‘’I love to make people feel something whether that’s sad, happy or angry, I don’t mind. If you feel something I succeeded as an actor.’’
