Your Language Reels
A language reel is a short audio recording of you speaking in a language or accent.
Casting directors use it to hear how you speak.
It should be:
-
Your voice only (no music, no other people)
-
Less than 1 minute long
-
In MP3 format
You need to upload a language reel for every language you speak.
You can then attach them when you apply for jobs.
How to add a Language Reel to your profile #
Record yourself
You don’t need expensive equipment. You can use:
-
Your mobile phone
-
A laptop
-
Any simple recorder you have
Steps:
-
Find something short to read in the language, like a news article or Wikipedia.
-
Practice a few times.
-
Record your voice – make sure it’s clear and less than 1 minute.
-
Save the file.
If your recording is not in MP3 format, you must convert it before uploading.
Search for “convert to MP3 online” – many websites do this for free. For example: Convertio.
Add your accent info
After you upload your reel, write a short note about your accent.
Examples:
-
“American English – California accent”
-
“French – Paris region”
-
“Spanish – Mexico City”
This helps casting directors know exactly how you sound.
