Good Vimeo Links #

For technical reasons, we only accept public Vimeo links that look like this:

https://vimeo.com/123456789

These are:

• Not password-protected
• Not private or hidden
• Viewable by anyone
• Set to allow embedding

This type of video will play directly on your profile on our website.

Bad Vimeo Links #

Unfortunately, we cannot accept links like these:

https://vimeo.com/123456789/abcdef1234

These are private or unlisted videos. They:

• Need a special link or password to view
• Will not display on your profile
• Are not allowed on our system

We also cannot accept videos that:

• Are password-protected
• Are marked as “unlisted” or “only people with the private link”
• Are set to not allow embedding

Note, that we cannot accept these links because of restrictions on Vimeo which don't allow them to show on other websites.

How to fix your Vimeo video #

To make sure your video can be shown on our website:

Step 1: Set your video to public

1. Go to your video on Vimeo
2. Click the Privacy settings
3. Choose: “Anyone can watch”
4. Save

Step 2: Allow embedding

In the same Privacy settings

1. Look for Where can this video be embedded?
2. Choose: “Anywhere” (or if needed, allow encast.pro)
3. Save

Step 3: Rate your video

Vimeo requires videos to be rated before they can be embedded.

1. Go to the Video Settings
2. Under Content Rating, choose an option like All Audiences
3. Save

Step 4: Test your video #

After you’ve done the steps above, your link should look like:

https://vimeo.com/123456789

If you paste this into your browser and the video plays without needing a password — and if it shows an embed option — then it should work on our site.
