Languages on enCAST

We try to keep the list of languages simple. Most languages are shown as one single option, without dialects or accents.

For example, we only list Italian — we do not list Tuscan, Venetian, or Napolitan separately.

But for some languages we do offer major variants:

Because many casting calls (especially American films shooting in Europe) ask for actors who sound American, we offer:

• English
  This means any kind of English, such as British, Irish, Canadian, Australian, South African, or neutral/international English.

• English (British)
  This is for people who speak specifically British English and can pass for a British person.

• English (American)
  This means you speak with an American accent and can pass as someone from the USA.

If you can speak with a perfect American Accent, then by all means select both English and English (American).

Accents & Dialects #

Sometimes a casting call may ask for a specific accent or dialect which we don't have on our list of languages. For example:

• “The actor should speak English with an Australian accent.”

• “The actor should speak Italian with a Sicilian accent.”

In these cases:

• You must write in your application email that you speak this accent or dialect.

• You must include a voice sample or showreel where you speak in that accent.

Important Notes

• Always be honest about your accent — casting directors will listen carefully!
