Changing Your Casting Call After Publication

Once your casting call is live on enCAST, you cannot edit it yourself. Our team makes the changes for you. This page explains how to ask for a change, what can be changed, and how to avoid needing changes at all.

How to ask for a change #

1. Send us a message with the URL, title, or number of the casting call.
2. Write the exact new wording you want. For example: "Please change the playing age for the role of Donna to 30-45" or "Please extend the closing date to 17 September".

We aim to make changes within one working day. You get a reply in your inbox when the change is live. Please check the casting page yourself afterwards to make sure it is exactly what you wanted.

What can be changed #

Any part of the notice can be changed. The most common requests are:

• The role descriptions.
• The playing age range of a role.
• The gender of a role.
• The language requirements.
• The closing date.

Extending the closing date #

Ask for an extension before the casting closes and tell us the new date. Once the closing date has passed, the casting is marked as closed and no longer appears in the casting list, so the earlier you ask, the better. Read more here: Casting Call Closing Dates.

Playing age: always give a minimum and a maximum #

Every role on enCAST has a minimum and a maximum playing age. Actors can only apply if their playing age is inside this range.

If you leave the age out of your notice, or give only one number, we have to guess a range when we publish. If our guess is wrong, you then need to ask for a change, and actors may have applied who are not right for the role. So please give the full range for every role when you post.

Gender: what "open" means #

If a role says open, it is open to all genders. A casting title that says "Actors (m/f)" means the same thing. If a role is only for men or only for women, tell us and we will set it. Read more here: Casting Genders.

Languages: say what the character speaks and what the actor needs #

These are two different things, so please state both:

• Which language the character speaks on screen, and at what level. For example: "Donna speaks only Italian in the film" or "a fluent English speaker with no Italian accent, or able to hide one".
• Which language the actor needs to follow direction on set. For example: "enough English to understand directions".

The web address of the casting does not change #

The web address of your casting is created from the title when the casting is first published. When we change the casting later, the web address stays the same. So an old age range or an old title can still appear in the address after the casting has been corrected.

The text on the casting page is always the correct, current version. Actors should read that, not the web address.

Changes can affect actors who have already applied #

If you change the age, gender or language of a role after actors have applied, some of them may no longer match the role. They are not told about the change automatically. To be fair to actors and to yourself, check your notice carefully before you submit it, and ask for changes as early as possible.
