Barry Allen, a forensic scientist struck by lightning during a freak laboratory accident, awakens from a coma to discover he can move at extraordinary speed. Under the guidance of the scientists at S.T.A.R. Labs and his mentor Detective Joe West, Barry begins using his abilities to protect Central City from metahuman threats whilst secretly investigating the mysterious murder of his mother, for which his father has been wrongly imprisoned.
