A teenage girl effectively raises her younger brother alone in their dilapidated home after their mother abandons the family, the two siblings forming a fiercely protective bond. Their precarious existence is disrupted when a young man from outside their insular world enters their lives, bringing with him both new possibilities and fresh complications. The film traces how the girl navigates the competing pulls of responsibility and her own emerging desires for independence and connection.
