A New York mob enforcer, after testifying against his boss, enters the witness protection programme and requests relocation to Lilyhammer, Norway — a town he fondly remembers from watching the 1994 Winter Olympics. Once there, he struggles to adapt to the quiet Scandinavian way of life whilst gradually imposing his old-world criminal methods on the locals. The culture clash generates both comic and dramatic tension as he builds a new empire far from home.
