A young Polish woman arrives at Ellis Island in the 1920s hoping to build a new life in America, but her dreams are quickly undermined when her sister is quarantined and she falls under the control of a manipulative impresario who draws her into prostitution. She becomes entangled between this exploitative man and his charming magician cousin, both of whom develop feelings for her. As she struggles to secure her sister's release and reclaim her dignity, she must navigate betrayal, desire, and moral compromise in a harsh and indifferent city.
