A widowed Sicilian priest takes in a young Roma girl who has an extraordinary gift for singing, and the unlikely bond they form challenges both his faith and his place within his conservative rural community. As he fights to protect her and nurture her talent, he must navigate hostility from locals who distrust her heritage, as well as scrutiny from the Church itself.
