A respected Italian judge finds himself torn between his professional duties and his personal convictions when he is assigned a case involving a man accused of murder who claims to have acted out of mercy. As the investigation unfolds, the judge must confront questions of morality, justice, and the limits of the law, while navigating the pressures placed upon him by colleagues, family, and his own conscience. The case forces him to examine whether legal truth and moral truth can ever truly coincide.
