A young man becomes romantically and intellectually entangled with an older, worldly woman during a summer stay at her country estate, where he is drawn into a web of desire, manipulation, and emotional dependency. As their relationship deepens, he finds himself increasingly unable to distinguish between genuine feeling and calculated seduction. The affair leaves him fundamentally altered, stripped of his earlier innocence and certainty about love.
