Zátopek
Directed by David Ondříček (2021)
Czech long-distance running legend Emil Zátopek rises from humble origins to become one of the greatest Olympic athletes of the twentieth century, winning multiple gold medals at the 1952 Helsinki Games. The film traces both his extraordinary sporting career and his complex personal life, including his devoted relationship with his wife Dana. His story takes a darker turn as the political realities of Communist Czechoslovakia encroach upon his life, forcing him to confront difficult moral choices that ultimately cost him his privileged status.
