Little Ashes
Directed by Paul Morrison (2008)
A young Salvador Dalí arrives at university in Madrid, where he forges an intense and complicated friendship with the poet Federico García Lorca and the filmmaker Luis Buñuel. As Dalí's artistic ambitions pull him towards the avant-garde movements of Paris, his deepening romantic feelings for Lorca create a tension that neither man can fully resolve. The film traces the diverging paths of these three figures against the backdrop of a Spain on the brink of political upheaval.
