A seemingly wholesome American family's idyllic suburban life is thrown into chaos when a group of violent criminals invades their home, but the situation spirals into darkly comic mayhem as the family reveals they are far from the defenceless victims they appear to be. The film subverts the home-invasion thriller genre by leaning into absurdist humour and gleeful violence, drawing on the aesthetic of 1990s American family sitcoms. Nick Kroll and Alicia Silverstone star as the parents of a household that proves disturbingly well-equipped to handle — and perhaps even relish — the bloodshed unfolding around them.
