Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes

Directed by Hugh Hudson (1984)

A Scottish aristocrat's infant son is orphaned in the African jungle and raised to adulthood by a tribe of great apes, growing up as a supremely capable wild man. When a Belgian explorer discovers him, the feral young man is brought back to Britain and introduced to his grandfather, the ailing Earl of Greystoke, as well as to the refined world of Victorian society. Torn between the civilised life he is expected to embrace and the untamed jungle existence he has always known, he struggles to find where he truly belongs.
